Since their foundation in 1588, the Clerics Regular Minor (The Adorno Fathers and Brothers) kept at heart the veneration of Saint Michael the Archangel and within each of their churches, there was an alter dedicated to the prince of the heavenly host. The recitation of the chaplet of Saint Michael was a specific practice and particular initiative of their religious Order since the end of 1600 and this devotion was dispersed from all their religious houses. Already in 1708 and then in 1726 booklets with the chaplet of Sain Michael were printed by the Order. In a particular way, Father Bartolomeo Simorilli, CRM was one of the most devoted friends within the Order to Saint Michael the Archangel.

By 1700, The Clerics Regular Minor were also called by the people with the significant name of the “THE RELIGIOUS OF SAINT MICHAEL”. Along with Saint Joseph, Saint Michael the Archangel is the Principal Patron of the Order.

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle,

be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him we humbly pray;

and do thou,

O Prince of the Heavenly host,

by the power of God,

cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits

who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
