FATHER MELVIN ILAGAN AVILLA, CRM.
Father Melvin, the son of Filomeno and Anita Gomez Ilagan, was born in Bancod, Indang, Cavite, Philippines, on June 18, 1975. After his primary schooling in Cavite, and College at Christ the King Seminary in Quezon City (1992-1996), he came to the House of Formation in Ramsey, New Jersey, in 2001. He studied theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange, New Jersey. He took his Solemn Vows in the Order in St. Joseph Church, Lodi, New Jersey, on June 4, 2007, and was ordained a priest by Most Reverend (Card.) Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila, on January 25, 2008, in Saint Gregory the Great Parish, Indang, Cavite.
Father Melvin was Vocation Director and Formator both in the Ramsey Seminary and in Vinzons, Philippines, during 2008-2012. On February 16, 2013, he was nominated Superior of the community of Goose Creek, South Carolina - the mandate to last till 2015. Following the resignation of Father Edgardo Enverga in the summer of 2013, he was also named Administrator of St. Philip Benizi Church in Moncks Corner and Our Lady of Peace in Bonneau, South Carolina—a position he still holds.
