Saint Francis of Assisi

“Follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and walk in his footsteps”

St Francis simple rule…

Saint Francis of Assisi was a Catholic friar, originally called Pietro Bernardo, who gave up a life of wealth and honor to live a life of poverty. He established the Franciscan Order of Friars and the women’s Order of Poor Ladies who was known for their love of poverty and simplicity of life. He was also known for his love for the Holy Eucharist.

Inspired by Saint Francis’s way of poverty and humility and his love for our Lord Jesus Christ, our founder, Saint Francis Caracciolo, after his example changed his name from Ascanio to Francis. Pope Sixtus V named and called the new order as Clerics Regular Minor (like the Friars Minor founded by Francis of Assisi) after he saw the humility and simplicity of Saint Francis Caracciolo and his co-founders.

Francis' feast day is observed on 4 October.

Most High, Glorious God,
enlighten the darkness of our minds.
Give us a right faith, a firm hope and a perfect charity,
so that we may always and in all things act according to Your Holy Will.

Amen.
